- Two years ago, studies showed that about 10% of supermarkets in the U.S. had implemented CO2 refrigeration systems. By 2027, that number is expected to grow to 30-40%. (4:00)
- There is a misconception that CO2 systems are only suitable for cold climates. But they can be implemented in all climates. (5:40)
- CO2 systems require different components than a traditional HFC systems – high pressure valves, liquid receiver, parallel compressors, ejectors, different control settings – and some end users and technicians may feel overwhelmed. But there is training and product support available. (7:45)
- Most food retail customers are impressed when hearing about the increased efficiency of CO2 systems and the need for fewer compressors. (10:00)
- Each new refrigerant, whether ammonia, CO2, or propane, has positives and negatives. Food retail customers need to choose the most efficient solution for the application. (12:00)
- Component manufacturers need to work with the industry to provide training to facility managers and technicians. Danfoss is doing this with our Mobile Training Unit, which will be traveling to different store locations around the country in the coming year. (13:30)
- As those in the industry acquire more knowledge and experience with CO2, they will be able to teach others and dispel the myths about CO2, leading to more adoptions. (18:45)
